BEIJING, April 27 -- On April 25, 2026, a helicopter of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) experienced a mechanical failure and was unable to perform its assigned tasks. The 6th Chinese Peacekeeping Military Utility Helicopter Unit to UNISFA responded quickly and dispatched helicopters urgently to perform support tasks.

All four crew teams of the contingent were deployed on the very day, completing 16 sorties.
