BEIJING, July 21 -- On the morning of July 20, 2026, the Chinese PLA Navy's 83rd task force, consisting of training ship Qijiguang (Hull 83) and amphibious dock landing ship Kunlunshan (Hull 998), carrying more than 900 midshipmen and sailors, set sail from a military port in Zhanjiang, south China's Guangdong Province, to conduct a far-seas comprehensive internship training and visit mission.
Previously, midshipmen from the Naval University of Engineering and the Naval Submarine Academy, along with several foreign military officers, accompanied the 83rd task force to successfully complete the previous stage of far-seas comprehensive internship training and paid visits to Russia and Vietnam.
The midshipmen participating in this mission are primarily from the PLA Dalian Naval Academy. Additionally, nine foreign naval officers from countries, including the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, will train in mixed groups alongside Chinese midshipmen.
