BEIJING, July 27 -- The Chinese PLA Navy's 83rd task force, comprising the training ship Qijiguang (Hull 83) and amphibious dock landing ship Kunlunshan (Hull 998), arrived at Muara Port in Brunei on July 24, 2026, to begin a four-day goodwill visit as part of its far-seas internship training and visit mission.

During the visit, the task force organized a series of exchange activities to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei. Some members of the task force went to Brunei's military facilities, defense academy and universities for exchanges. The two sides conducted mutual ship visits and friendly sports matches. On the evening of July 26, the task force hosted the on-deck reception to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Meanwhile, the task force dispatched some members to stage performances and conduct community outreach for local people. These activities have further strengthened friendship between the two militaries and the two peoples of China and Brunei.
