GYIRONG, China, Sept. 1 -- A medical epidemic prevention team dispatched by the Chinese PLA Xizang Military Command arrived at the mudslide-stricken border port of Gyirong in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on August 31 and started to provide medical and epidemic prevention service since the early morning of September 1.

They conducted water quality test, environment decontamination, and medical service, and carried out comprehensive disinfection of key areas such as the tents, public toilets, and garbage collection points on site.

On Aug. 26, a deadly mudslide, caused by an ice-rock avalanche in Nepal, hit Gyirong Port, claiming 16 lives and leaving 546 people missing at the border port, according to the regional government's latest update.
