WAU, Sept. 4 -- Escorted by a Bangladeshi infantry battalion, the 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Level-II Hospital to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) conducted humanitarian assistance mission at Wau Central Prison, providing free medical services.

Given the limited medical resources at the prison and difficulties faced by the sick and injured in accessing medical care, medical personnel from the Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent provided patients with medical consultations, physical examinations, condition assessments, and medication guidance. 

A total of 42 sick and injured people received medical care during the free clinic, with 14 categories of commonly used medicines distributed on-site, including anti-infective drugs, antipyretics and analgesics, topical disinfectants, and skin care products.

The free clinic effectively alleviated the suffering from illnesses and injuries among this vulnerable local population, and further strengthened cooperation between the UN and local youth organizations.
