QINGDAO, Oct. 29 -- On the morning of October 28, the Chinese naval hospital ship Auspicious Ark (Hull 868) set sail from a military port in Qingdao City, east China’s Shandong Province, heading for some islands and reefs along the northern and eastern coastal areas of China to provide medical services. This is the first time that the ship Auspicious Ark has provided medical service since it was commissioned this year.
It is learned that the Auspicious Ark is the third 10,000-ton-class ocean-going hospital ship independently designed and built by China, as well as the latest and most advanced hospital ship in China. It is capable of providing early treatment and some specialized treatment for the wounded during wartime and undertaking maritime medical rescue tasks during peacetime. It can also perform international humanitarian relief and other missions.
