GULF OF ADEN, Nov. 6 -- On November 4, local time, as the Panamanian general cargo ship Nasco Diamond safely arrived in a sea area in the western part of the Gulf of Aden, the 48th Chinese naval escort taskforce completed its first escort mission successfully.
After receiving the application for security guard sent by the Panamanian general cargo ship Nasco Diamond, the Chinese naval taskforce communicated with the ship immediately and learned that it was characterized by slow sailing speed and low freeboard. Based on comprehensive consideration, the taskforce adopted the accompanying and relaying escort patterns to ensure the safety of the commercial ship.
The Nasco Diamond arrived at the rendezvous point on November 3 local time. Chinese Navy's guided-missile destroyer Tangshan (Hull 122) sailed to the designated sea area in company with the commercial ship. They reached a sea area in the central part of the Gulf of Aden after a day's voyage. Then, the Chinese Navy's guided-missile frigate Daqing (Hull 576) replaced the ship Tangshan to continue to escort the commercial ship.
It is learned that the task lasted for more than 30 hours, covering a distance exceeding 300 nautical miles.
