BEIJING, Dec. 9 – A naval service group assigned to the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command recently conducted a field training exercise with focus on maritime search and rescue in a designated area of the South China Sea, further assessing the troops' joint support capabilities for combat-oriented maritime rescue operations.

During the exercise, the directing team randomly deployed multiple rescue manikins. Under the influence of wind and currents, the manikins drifted in various directions and became widely dispersed, making the search effort closer to real combat conditions.

Following the search and rescue training, the formation proceeded to conduct a series of follow-on drills, including comprehensive formation defense, alongside and vertical replenishment-at-sea under complex weather conditions. These training subjects effectively enhanced the troops’ strength in combat-oriented training and readiness.
