BEIJING, Dec. 16 -- The Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) held the 11th handover ceremony at the Chinese peacekeeping camp of the UNMISS in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, on December 15, 2025.

The handover marked the successful completion of the one-year peacekeeping mission of the 11th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to the UNMISS, as taken over by its successor, the 12th batch.

In the past few days, the two batches have handed over a number of items, including materials, equipment, vehicles, and other issues. They also exchanged information regarding the security situation in the mission area and the precautions to be taken during the mission execution. In addition, the peacekeepers of the two batches jointly conducted sentry duties, guard and patrol, and other tasks to ensure seamless transition of the mission.

According to the plan, the second echelon of the 12th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion will arrive at the mission area soon. The 11th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion will return to China on the same day.
