BEIJING, July 16 -- On July 14, 2026, due to the limited medical facilities on the island, a seriously ill infant over nine months old on Weizhou Island was in urgent need‌ to transfer to a hospital in Beihai City of Guangxi Province in south China.

Upon receiving the call, the Beihai Bureau of the China Coast Guard (CCG) dispatched the patrol boat Tuanhe to carry out a maritime emergency transfer mission. During the mission, law enforcers cooperated with the medical staff to monitor the infant's physical conditionand comfort the family members‌. The medical staff transferred the infant to the hospital after arriving at the port.

The infant is receiving targeted treatment at the hospital and is in a stable condition.
