BEIRUT, Aug. 28 -- Southern Lebanon is gripped by scorching heat and drought. With hostilities in the region continuing and unexploded ordnance (UXO) hidden beneath the surface, the local returning residents face multiple problems such as housing, transportation and safety.

After obtaining approval from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Headquarters, the 24th Chinese peacekeeping contingent to Lebanon quickly dispatched a team of experienced specialists to provide humanitarian assistance.

During the mission, the Chinese peacekeepers successfully completed UXO detection, debris removal, and ground leveling across an area of over 6,100 square meters, preparing a temporary shelter site for the displaced residents returning home. They also cleared rubble from the village's main road.
