BEIJING, Oct. 30 -- "The Chinese PLA will firmly smash any 'Taiwan Independence' separatist plot and foreign interference," said Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense (MND), at a regular press conference on Thursday.

According to media reports, the so-called "US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference 2025" was recently held in the US. The two sides discussed about R&D and production of weapons and more US arms sales to Taiwan.

When being asked to share comment on this, the spokesperson pointed out that the DPP authorities pander to the US for selfish interests at the expense of Taiwan's interests. It seeks independence by force at the cost of Taiwan's resources, dragging people in Taiwan down into an abyss.

"No matter how much weaponry the DPP authorities plan to buy from the US, the military strength comparison posture across the Strait will not be altered, nor will the desolate fate of 'Taiwan Independence' be changed,"said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson then emphasized that the US should fully recognize the high sensitivity and severe consequences of its arms sales to Taiwan, stop playing with fire on the Taiwan question that concerns China's core interests, and take concrete actions to deliver on its promise for not supporting "Taiwan Independence".

"The Chinese PLA will firmly smash any 'Taiwan Independence' separatist plot and foreign interference and safeguard China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity with stronger capabilities and more reliable means," stressed the spokesperson.
