BEIJING, Nov. 17 -- "We urge the U.S. side to immediately stop the despicable act of arming China's Taiwan region and avoid undermining the relations between the two countries and two militaries," said Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, on Nov. 17, 2025.

It is reported that the U.S. Department of State approved a 330 million USD arms sale to China's Taiwan region, including "non-standard aviation spare parts, accessories" and repair support for certain aircraft.

When being asked to share comment, the spokesperson made it clear that the U.S. side's arms sale to China's Taiwan region seriously violated the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, roughly intervened in China's internal affairs, damaged China's national sovereignty and security interests and sent seriously wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.

"We are strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to such act, and have lodged solemn representation with the U.S. side," said the spokesperson.

He emphasized that "assisting the 'Taiwan independence' with arms sale" and "containing China by using Taiwan question" will not succeed.

He also warned the DPP authorities that wasting Taiwan people's fortune on purchasing weapons is like quenching thirst with poison, and relying on external forces to seek "Taiwan independence" and obstructing reunification by force are doomed to fail.

"We will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity," stressed the spokesperson.
