MINUSMA Chinese level-II hospital rescues wounded Sri Lankan peacekeeper

GAO, Mali, Sept. 6 -- On September 4, local time, a Sri Lankan peacekeeping transportation company from the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was attacked on the way carrying out escorted transportation task in Gao, and a peacekeeper of the company suffered a penetrating injury to his left shoulder. The 10th Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent to Mali transferred him to the Chinese level-II hospital run by the contingent for treatment, and the wounded was out of danger after over-two-hour rescue.

"This is the first wounded we have received after the rotation of the medical contingent," said Xu Lin, commanding officer of the 10th medical contingent. On August 27, the 33-member first echelon of the 10th Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent to Mali arrived in Gao, after completing task handover with the 9th medical contingent, they organized drills in terms of diagnosis and treatment, epidemic prevention, logistic support, security defense, etc.

It is learned that the second echelon of the contingent consisting of 30 persons is scheduled to set off from China for Gao, Mali on September 7 to join the first echelon.
