The Royal Thai Navy training centre hosted a joint command post exercise with representatives of the multinational command post with officers from the Eastern Military District. The exercise was held in preparation for the practical phase of ASEAN international counter-terrorist exercise of countries and dialogue partners, which will be held in China.
The event included the opening ceremony with representatives from 18 ASEAN countries, the deployment of a multinational command post, training in joint work with the control systems of the counter-terrorism operation group.
During the joint work, the officers of 18 countries developed: initial situation - actions of mock terrorist groups in the territory created for carrying out exercise, the virtual state, the conception and the plan of carrying out forthcoming counter-terrorist operation. The interaction between the created multinational groups at the control point was established, the issues on the types of security were clarified.
At the end of the exercise, the Thai armed forces servicemen showcased a variant of one of the stages of the upcoming exercise - practical actions for the "hostage" rescue in urban conditions.
In November, the special forces units of the Eastern MD, together with groups formed from the military of the countries participating in the exercise, will perform special tasks for the hostage rescue in administrative buildings, buses, hijacked planes at the training center of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The multinational group of engineering units will be headed by an officer of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
In addition, during the active phase of the exercise, joint training will be held to search for and destroy mock explosive devices, conduct NBC reconnaissance in buildings and on the ground, landing from helicopters, live-fire drills from small arms.
About 25 servicemen will be involved from the Eastern Military District to participate in the exercise, these are officers to work at the multinational command posts and military personnel of special forces.
