BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China's efforts to strengthen national defense do not target or threaten any country, said Zhang Yesui, spokesperson for the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress, on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference held on the eve of the session, Zhang said whether a country poses a threat to others depends on what kind of defense policy it pursues.

China is committed to the path of peaceful development and adheres to a defense policy that is defensive in nature, Zhang said.
