The China-Russia joint military exercise ZAPAD/INTERACTION-2021 takes place from August 9 to 13 at the combined-arms tactical training base of the PLA Army in Qingtongxia City of West China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The exercise is the first joint military exercise held inside China since the COVID-19 outbreak.
ZAPAD/INTERACTION-2021 aims to further demonstrate the determination and ability of both sides to combat terrorist forces and jointly safeguard regional peace and security.
The live-fire drill of the exercise kicked off at about 10:20 in the morning of August 13 with more than 10 thousand troops from both Chinese and Russian sides, together with multiple types of aircraft, artilleries and armored vehicles involved.
