GAO, Mali, July 26 -- The 10th Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent to Mali successfully passed the United Nations' third-quarter equipment verification on July 20. This was the final equipment verification and assessment conducted before the withdrawal of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

The verification team meticulously inspected and inquired about the withdrawal arrangements for equipment belonging to the contingent. They conducted on-site inventory and operational inspections to verify and assess over 20 categories of equipment and materials. All equipment met the standards stipulated by the United Nations. The verification team praised the contingent's exemplary daily maintenance and well-planned withdrawal preparations for the equipment.

Equipment verification is a comprehensive assessment conducted by the United Nations to assess whether the equipment and facilities provided by troop-contributing countries meet the requirements for peacekeeping.

On June 30, the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2690. In accordance with the resolution, MINUSMA ceased its peacekeeping operations on July 1 and began the transition of mandates, as well as the orderly and safely drawdown and withdrawal of personnel. These tasks are scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2023.

The troops rotation in the mission area where Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent is located has essentially ceased. It is expected that all camps will be closed by mid-December. Before that, Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent will provide necessary medical treatment for relevant United Nations personnel and humanitarian assistance as required.
