First stage of "Clear Sky" competition kicks off

KORLA, August 26 -- On the morning of August 24, the first stage contest of the "Clear Sky", a competition among man-portable air defence missile teams, under the International Army Games (IAG) 2021 kicked off in Korla, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Teams from China, Russia, Belarus, Egypt, Uzbekistan, and Venezuela were engaged in fierce competitions.

According to the regulations of the competition, the participanting teams have to drive the armored personnel carrier through a circular route of 9.5 km, while passing through 12 sets of obstacles and firing at targets in 6 firing zones.The final results are judged based on obstacle crossing, shooting accuracy and total runtime.

The Chinese PLA Army team, came out at the 4th place. After passing through various obstacles quickly and smoothly, the carrier reached the zone for firing at simulated helicopter target, the Chinese crew quickly located the target and successfully launched the missile at it.

The competition consists of three stages, namely mastery race, cooperation race and combined race, and all participating teams use equipment provided by China except for Russian team.
