BEIJING, Aug. 19 -- Army Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), said on Saturday that the PLA Eastern Theater Command carried out training exercise on subjects including jointly seizing maritime and airspace control, submarine search and anti-submarine operations in the waters and airspace to the north and southwest of Taiwan Island on August 19.
The exercise tested the capability of the theater command's forces in coordinated operations and systematic confrontation, said the spokesperson.
