BEIJING, Nov. 2 -- The US destroyer USS Rafael Peralta and the Canadian frigate HMCS Ottawa sailed through the Taiwan Strait on November 1 and hyped it up publicly. Army Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command, slammed their provocative move in a written statement released on Thursday.
The naval and air forces of the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command conducted tracking and monitoring in the whole course, and handled the situation according to law and regulations, said the spokesperson.
According to the spokesperson, the troops of the PLA Eastern Theater Command remain on high alert at all times to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and security as well as regional peace and stability.
