Benin's vice president visits Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark

COTONOU, Benin, Oct. 21 -- On the morning of October 19, local time, Mariam Talata, Vice President of Benin, visited the Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark, which is on the Mission Harmony-2024, and met with the medical staff onboard.

Around 8:00 a.m., accompanied by the commander of the Mission Harmony-2024 and the Chinese Ambassador to Benin, Talata boarded the ship and inspected the Chinese honor guards. Then she viewed the ship-borne equipment including the ambulance helicopter and lifeboats.

In the medical area, Talata met with the medical staff onboard and experienced cupping, physical therapy, and other medical service in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department.

Talata expressed her gratitude for the visit of Peace Ark and praised the Chinese medical staff for their contributions to the health and welfare of the Beninese people.

Since its visit to Benin on October 17, the Peace Ark has provided round-the-clock medical service and dispatched several medical teams to local communities, hospitals and schools for medical tours. As of October 19, the ship had treated 2,638 patients, conducted 1,299 auxiliary medical tests, admitted 11 inpatients, and completed 28 surgeries and operations.
