HONG KONG, April 4 -- A ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the Association of Hong Kong Flag-guards (AHKF) was held on April 1st, and more than 100 service members assigned to the PLA Hong Kong Garrison attended the event.

At about 11 am, the guard of honor of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison entered the venue at Sha Tsui Road Playground, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong, and raised the national flag at the beginning of the event. After that, members of the AHKF presented a march-past parade, during which they walked by the reviewing stand in measured steps and high spirits. At the end of the parade, the guard of honor and the band of the Hong Kong garrison presented an exhibition drill and a military band performance in success, winning warm applause from the citizens on the spot.

"We hope that such exchange and cooperation with the PLA Hong Kong Garrison will help to improve the skills of flag-guards of the AHKF. In addition, we also hope that more and more young people can take pride in our nation and be more committed to their motto of serving the nation”, said Wu Huanjie, director of the AHKF.

It is learned that the AHKF was established on July 1, 2002, which is committed to promoting the national flag culture and patriotism education to primary and secondary schools and youth groups in Hong Kong, enabling them to be more aware of and concerned about their country through personal participation.
