BEIJING, Oct. 8 -- Recently, 700 peacekeepers of the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) were awarded the UN Peace Medal of Honor.
北京10月8日电 -- 近日，中国第十批赴南苏丹（朱巴）维和步兵营700名维和官兵全部被授予联合国“和平荣誉勋章”。
The Peace Medal of Honor is an important award established by the UN to recognize the outstanding contributions to the cause of peace of mankind. Since its deployment to the mission area in December last year, the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion has completed more than 150 tasks including security guard, armed patrols and contingency responses within the UNMISS command framework. It has also carried out free clinic for multiple times, and donated more than 10,000 humanitarian aid materials.
“和平荣誉勋章”是联合国为表彰对人类和平事业做出突出贡献者而设立的重要奖项。中国第十批维和步兵营自去年12月部署至任务区以来，在联南苏团指挥框架内，高标准完成了警戒执勤、武装巡逻、应急处突等授权任务150余次，并积极开展义诊、慰问等人道主义援助活动，捐赠各类人道主义援助物资一万余件（套）。
