COTONOU, Benin, Oct. 23 -- The Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark, which is on the Mission Harmony-2024 in Benin, in collaboration with the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Naval Medical University, completed the robot-assisted renal cyst unroofing and decompression surgery for a Beninese patient on Oct. 21st, local time. This marks the first remote surgery conducted via the domestic ship-borne surgical robot since it set sail onboard the ship Peace Ark.
科托努10月23日电 当地时间21日，正在贝宁执行“和谐使命-2024”任务的中国海军和平方舟医院船，与海军军医大学第二附属医院密切合作，成功为一名贝宁患者实施机器人辅助下肾囊肿去顶减压术。这是国产舰载手术机器人随“和平方舟”赴海外以来，首次运用远程手术模块实施手术。
The surgery was jointly conducted by the medical staff aboard the ship Peace Ark and doctors from the Naval Medical University in China. While the Peace Ark medical staff completed preparatory work including anesthesia, disinfection and surgical equipment installation, doctors from the Naval Medical University remotely controlled the robot arm to complete cyst wall rupture decompression, incision and other operations. The clear and smooth remote real-time image, swift and steady robot arm response, and close collaboration between onsite and online teams ensured the success of the surgery.
手术由和平方舟医院船医护人员与海军军医大学医生共同完成。医院船医护人员完成麻醉、消毒、机器人器械安装等准备工作，海军军医大学医生远程控制机械臂完成囊肿壁破壁减压和切割等操作。手术过程中，远程实时画面清晰流畅，机械臂响应快速稳定，前后方配合默契，效果超出预期。
"The success of the surgery has expanded the applications of ship-borne surgical robots and provided more possibilities for future coordination and allocation of medical resources and treatment of war wounds in far seas," said the deputy commander of the Mission Harmony-2024, adding that the Chinese military doctors will continue to benefit patients around the world with their superb medical skills and advanced technologies.
