BEIJING, Jan. 18 -- According to a written statement released by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command, joint air and maritime combat-readiness patrols were carried out in the South China Sea from January 17 to 18, in a bid to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea region. Any military activities that disrupt the South China Sea are under control, stressed the statement.
