BEIJING, Apr. 7 -- On April 4, local time, the 11th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in South Sudan held a memorial ceremony to pay tribute to Chinese peacekeepers Li Lei and Yang Shupeng, who were killed in a fierce armed conflict in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, in 2016.

On July 8, 2016, a large-scale armed conflict broke out in Juba. Chinese peacekeepers Yang Shupeng and Li Lei were killed in a rocket attack while patrolling the civilian protection area during a fierce battle in which the Chinese peacekeepers helped ensure the safety of more than 9,000 civilians.

北京4月7日电 当地时间4月4日,中国第十一批赴南苏丹维和步兵营与中国驻南苏丹大使馆共同举行清明节烈士公祭活动,深切缅怀在南苏丹维和行动中牺牲的李磊、杨树朋2名烈士。

2016年7月8日,南苏丹首都朱巴发生大规模武装冲突。7月10日,李磊、杨树朋奉命执行平民保护区警戒任务时牺牲。
