Ship Zhanjiang enhances interactions with foreign navies during LIMA 2023 trip

BEIJING, May 23 -- The opening ceremony of the 16th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, LIMA 2023, was held on May 22. The guided-missile destroyer Zhanjiang (Hull 165) attached to the Chinese PLA Navy anchored in the waters near Langkawi, Malaysia, completing the assembly with participating ships of other countries.

During LIMA 2023, the destroyer Zhanjiang will hold open day and deck reception, and participate in activities of fleet review, Langkawi Maritime Conference, Naval Engineering Conference, Fleet Cultural and Food Festival Night.

It had set off from a military port in Zhanjiang on May 16 and sailed through the South China Sea, the Singapore Strait and the Malacca Strait along the way. During the voyage through the Singapore Strait, the Singaporean patrol ship and the destroyer Zhanjiang exchanged courtesy. When entering the Malacca Strait, the destroyer Zhanjiang met with the Pakistani participating frigate Shah Jahan, and blew the whistles to salute each other.

"We will take this opportunity to strengthen exchanges and communications with the participating naval forces, and enhance mutual understanding between naval personnel of various countries through participating in various activities," said Wei Qiang, captain of destroyer Zhanjiang.
