BEIJING, Oct. 15 -- General Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, met with the visiting Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov in Beijing on Tuesday.
General Zhang Youxia said that in recent years, China-Russia relations have reached an all-time high and maintained sound and steady development, which fundamentally benefits from the strategic guidance and promotion of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin. China is ready to work with Russia, taking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as a new starting point, to continuously consolidate and develop China-Russia relations featuring everlasting good-neighborliness and friendship, high strategic mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation.
It is hoped that the two sides will work together to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, maintain close high-level exchanges, deepen and expand military-to-military relations, safeguard their respective national sovereignty, security and development interests, and jointly safeguard international and regional peace and stability, General Zhang added.
Andrei Belousov said that Russia and China enjoy a long history of friendship. Russia is willing to work with China to take the opportunity of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War and the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 2025 to continue to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, expand the forms and contents, and deepen the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.
