Flood-hit residents are relocated.

CHONGQING, July 5 -- Days of heavy rainfall have raised the water level in rivers of Wanzhou District, Chongqing. Service members and militia in the city are ordered to fight against the flood and go all out to protect the safety of people's life and properties.

The Wuqiao subdistrict, Wanzhou District, was waterlogged on the morning of July 4, with many houses flooded and many residents stranded at home.

The Chongqing Garrison Command and the People's Armed Police (PAP) Chongqing Corps immediately actuated the emergency plan. More than 170 PAP soldiers rushed to the flood-stricken areas with assault boats, rubber boats, and other emergency relief supplies, while 400 militiamen were organized to search for, relocate and settle the affected residents.

As of 18:00, July 5, more than 200 service members dispatched by the PAP Chongqing Corps had relocated about 500 affected residents and over 1,600 pieces of belongings, cleared more than 1,500m flooded roads, and moved over 10 tons of relief supplies. The militiamen helped relocate over 960 affected residents. Multiple reinforcements had arrived at the frontline to carry out disaster relief and desilting work in an orderly manner.
