BRAZZAVILLE, July 20 -- The 43rd Chinese naval escort taskforce concluded its four-day friendly visit to the Republic of Congo (ROC) and departed from the Port of Pointe-Noire on July 18, marking the successful completion of its mission of five-country visit in West Africa.

During the visit to ROC, commanding officer of the taskforce made courtesy calls on the deputy chief of staff of the Congolese Armed Forces and the mayor of Pointe-Noire, and attended the welcome dinner hosted by the Congolese Navy.

Sailors of the Congolese Navy were invited on board the Chinese guided-missile frigate Sanya and briefed on the warship's weapons and equipment. The two navies also conducted coordination of joint exercises and carried out discussions on counter-terrorism and anti-piracy tactics.

Moreover, the medical team of the 43rd Chinese naval escort taskforce and the 29th Chinese medical team to the ROC jointly provided a free clinic at the Hospital De Loandjili in Pointe-Noire, and had in-depth exchanges with local doctors from the General Hospital of the Congolese military and the Hospital De Loandjili on the prevention and treatment of common diseases, recovery, as well as the maintenance of medical equipment.

After leaving the port, the taskforce conducted training on counter-terrorism, anti-piracy and joint search and rescue with the Congolese Navy corvette.
