MINUSMA appreciates efforts of Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent

MALI, Aug. 28 -- A delegation of six people, led by Force Commander of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) Major General Mamadou Gaye, inspected the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Level-2 Hospital to MINUSMA on August 24. He spoke highly of the Chinese medical contingent's efforts in the past year, saying it has provided effective medical and health support for the MINUSMA in carrying out peacekeeping and withdrawal missions.

The delegation led by Mamadou Gaye heard the work briefing from the contingent, learned the diagnosis and treatment data and the support tasks the contingent has performed, and visited staff on duty in the medical area. The delegation highly affirmed the complete rescue capabilities, exquisite medical technology and rigorous working attitude of the Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent.

Over the past year of deployment, the Chinese medical contingent has accomplished various tasks assigned by the MINUSMA to a high standard. It has in total served 3,061 patients, conducted 47 operations, completed over 60 rounds of tasks of casualty evacuation, medical evacuation and transfer of patients between airplanes. It has also carried out more than 10 activities for friendly peacekeeping forces of various countries, including medical technical guidance, disease prevention and control education, and battlefield first aid skill.
