The 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the UNMISS holds the departure ceremony.

BEIJING, Dec. 15 -- The first batch of 350 peacekeepers of the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) departed from Xinzheng International Airport in Zhengzhou City of Central China's Henan Province on December 14, to carry out their 12-month peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.
Members of the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the UNMISS are mainly selected from a brigade of the 81st Group Army under the PLA Central Theater Command. The contingent consists of 700 members from multiple specialties and arms, including infantry, signal troops, reconnaissance unit, and engineer troops. They will undertake security patrol, armed escort, emergency response, humanitarian relief, and other tasks.
Since this September, members of the contingent have experienced three-month training based on the mission requirements. The second batch of another 350 peacekeepers will set off in late December.
