UNIFIL Sector West Commander inspects Chinese peacekeeping camp

BEIJING, Apr. 10 -- A team led by Brigadier General Enrico Fontana, newly appointed Sector West Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) visited the camp of the 22nd Chinese Peacekeeping Construction Engineering Company to UNIFIL on April 6, local time, for inspection, guidance and on-site exchanges.

The UNIFIL Sector West Commander had discussions and exchanges with Chinese peacekeepers on the security situation, risks and challenges in the mission area, and the responsibilities of the contingent. Subsequently, he visited the camp security and defense facilities and medical installation.

Since its deployment in December last year, the Chinese peacekeeping contingent has completed five annual construction tasks and 21 temporary assignments with high standards, earning high praise from the UNIFIL headquarters.
