BEIRUT, Aug.1 -- Recently, at the request of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) headquarters, the 22nd Chinese Peacekeeping Construction Engineering Company to the UNIFIL assisted the Irish-Polish Battalion and successfully completed the construction of their camp defensive works, promoting the capabilities of the friendly peacekeeping troops in responding to emergencies.
The construction site is less than three kilometers away from the temporary demarcation line between Lebanon and Israel. Given the tension between Lebanon and Israel in recent days, the contingent deployed extra guards to strengthen constant security patrol and better respond to various possible contingencies. After seven days of continuous hard work, the contingent overcame all difficulties and completed the tasks including transferring more than 750 cubic meters of engineering materials and constructing 280 meters of defensive works with high standards.
Since its deployment to the peacekeeping mission area in Lebanon in December last year, the contingent has completed 43 construction tasks such as camp defensive works upgrading and renovation with high standards, earning praise from the UNIFIL headquarters and friendly troops.
