BEIRUT, Dec. 23 -- On December 19, local time, the second batch of the 23rd Chinese peacekeeping force to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) successfully arrived at the mission area in southern Lebanon and joined with the first batch that had arrived earlier to undertake the one-year peacekeeping mission. At this point, all 410 members of the newly deployed Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon have been in place.
It is reported that the 23rd Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon consists of a multi-role engineering company, a construction engineering company, and a Level-1+ Hospital. The units are formed by personnel drawn from the Chinese PLA 75th Group Army and the General Hospital of the Chinese PLA Southern Theater Command. Their primary responsibilities include mine clearance, explosive disposal, medical assistance, Blue Line boundary marker erection, road construction, engineering construction, and humanitarian relief.
