HANOI, April 6 (Xinhua) -- A team of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam has paid tribute to Chinese martyrs of the Vietnam War at the Dao My Cemetery in Vietnam's northern Bac Giang province.
Xiong Bo, the Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, led the Chinese team in paying respects to the Chinese martyrs during a memorial held at the Dao My Cemetery on Tuesday.
The ambassador was joined by Vietnamese officials led by Mai Son, deputy chairman of Bac Giang provincial people's committee, and Nguyen Vinh Quang, deputy chair of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association.
Xiong said that during the war against U.S. aggression, more than 1,400 Chinese soldiers died and were laid to rest in Vietnam. They have made a great contribution to peace in both countries and in the region and cemented the friendship between the Chinese and Vietnamese people.
According to the Chinese embassy, the Dao My Cemetery is one of the many cemeteries across northern and central Vietnam where Chinese martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam War were buried.
