Service for veterans sees continuous development with high quality

BEIJING, April 17 -- On April 14, China's Ministry of Veterans Affairs (MVA) held a press conference to brief on its work during the past five years since its establishment.

So far, China has set up 618,000 service centers (stations) for veterans at six administrative levels, making the service for veterans available even in the villages and communities.

To improve and promote the mechanisms of education, training, employment and entrepreneurship for veterans, the MVA has issued 27 policy documents of various types and created a lifelong education system for veterans through adaptive and technical training, academic education, etc.

"Over the past five years, we have organized over 40,000 job fairs, facilitated employment for more than 2.6 million veterans, established 3,550 incubators for veterans’ employment and entrepreneurship, and continuously widened employment channels," stated Sheng Baochen, deputy director of the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship of the MVA.

Moreover, according to the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Heroes and Martyrs, the MVA has integrated the protection of heroes and martyrs into the system of Party and state honors and commendations, promoted the planning, construction and quality improvement of commemorative facilities, carried out the campaign of seeking families for nameless martyrs on a regular basis and found relatives for over 6,300 martyrs.
