BEIJING, March 17 -- The 21st Chinese peacekeeping construction engineering company to United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has carried out the training program codenamed Blue Helmets for Peace-2023 since early March, in an effort to enhance the security awareness of the peacekeepers and improve their ability in responding to emergencies.

Due to the constant political turmoil in Lebanon, accompanied by the deteriorating economy and the frequent confrontations along the border of Lebanon and Israel, in the recent period, the security risks faced by the Chinese peacekeepers have gradually increased.

Addressing the security needs of defense missions within and outside the camp, the contingent conducted the security-oriented training focusing on security regulations and skills training.

In addition, in order to have a clear idea of the security situation and potential risks that may arise during Ramadan, the contingent has also invited the Chinese staff officers working at the UNIFIL Command to provide detailed briefings on the security situation and precautions in the mission area, and prepared concrete contingency plans.

It is learned that the contingent will continue to launch a 100-day security campaign after the Blue Helmets for Peace-2023, and simultaneously strengthen information sharing with the UNIFIL intelligence department and peacekeepers from other countries to ensure a safe and smooth fulfillment of missions all through.
