BEIJING, April 10 -- Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), said on Monday that the PLA Eastern Theater Command had wrapped up the combat readiness security patrol around the Taiwan Island and all tasks of the Joint Sword exercise, which lasted from April 8 to 10 Beijing time.
The spokesperson noted that these operations had comprehensively tested the troops’ capabilities of joint operations involving multiple services and arms under real-combat conditions. The troops of the PLA Eastern Theatre Command are well prepared to fight at all times and will resolutely crush separatist attempts for "Taiwan independence" and foreign interference in any form.
