HONG KONG, April 24 -- The Hong Kong youth military march review and annual award ceremony was held in Hong Kong on April 23, with Miss Alice  Mak, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs  Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, serving as the inspecting officer.

Approximately 300 members of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association  attended the review ceremony, which was conducted in traditional Chinese-style goose-stepping . Following the review, various annual awards were presented to recognize the contributions and efforts of the Association members, including the Long-term Service Medal, Outstanding Member Award, and Outstanding Service Award.

Miss Mak said that the Chinese-style goose-stepping training would help strengthen teenagers’ national identity and sense of belonging to the country. She hoped that they would continue to train with the spirit of self-discipline, self-examination, solidarity and hard work. The Bureau would continue to promote exchange and collaboration among different uniformed youth groups and strengthen national education within these groups.

The Hong Kong Army Cadets Association is the only voluntary uniformed group in Hong Kong that is trained with Chinese-style goose-stepping. The Association was officially established at the Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison on January 18, 2015.
