Chinese naval ship Qi Jiguang rounds off visit to Thailand, heads for Brunei

BEIJING, June 2 -- Chinese naval training ship Qi Jiguang (Hull 83) rounded off its goodwill  visit to Thailand and set sail for Brunei on the morning of June 1. 

At 10 am local time on June 1, the Thai side held a farewell ceremony for the ship at the Sattahip Port. More than 200 people, including Chinese Military Attaché Major General Wang Zheng, staff of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, representatives of overseas Chinese, as well as representatives of the Royal Thai Navy, saw off ship Zhanjiang at the dock. 

During the visit, the Chinese mission commander had called on Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy Admiral Choengchai Chomchoengphaet , attended the welcome dinner organized by the Sattahip Naval Base, and led the cadets to pay an exchange visit to the Royal Thai Naval Academy. 

The visiting naval members toured the Thai Navy’s aircraft carrier HTMS Chakri Naruebet , Rayong Guanghua School, and the Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone , and had a friendly football match with the Thai navy cadets.

Besides, three open-day activities had also been held aboard the ship Qi Jiguang, with almost 1,000 people, including Thai military members, local residents and overseas Chinese, boarding the ship for a visit. On the evening of May 31, nearly 300 people from both sides attended a deck reception event aboard Ship Qi Jiguang and had friendly exchange with each other.
