Chinese peacekeepers to Mali awarded UN Peace Medal of Honor

MALI, June 25 -- All 398 peacekeepers of the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Troops to United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) were awarded the UN Peace Medal of Honor on June 20.

The awarding ceremony was held at the MINUSMA Super Camp of the MINUSMA in Gao. Force commander of MINUSMA Major General Mamadou GAYE and Chinese Ambassador to Mali Chen Zhihong attended the ceremony.

Maj. Gen. GAYE fully affirmed the work of the Chinese peacekeepers in the mission area and expressed his gratitude. “The Chinese peacekeeping troops have well performed and strongly supported the mandated tasks carried out by MINUSMA," he said.

The 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Troops to MINUSMA is composed of defense infantry, engineering and medical contingents. Since the deployment to mission area in August 2022, they have excellently fulfilled missions such as super-camp guard and defense, engineering support, and emergency construction, winning unanimous recognition.
