43rd Chinese naval escort taskforce wraps up visit to Ghana

TEMA, Ghana, July 3 -- The 43rd Chinese naval escort taskforce wrapped up a 4-day goodwill visit to Ghana and left the Port of Tema on the morning of July 1.

During the visit, the commanding officer and representatives of the Chinese taskforce made courtesy visit to Ghanaian military officials and had in-depth exchanges. The Ghanaian side stated that the development of China and the Chinese military is impressive, and they are willing to work together with the Chinese side to expand the defense cooperation. More than 50 Ghanaian naval sailors visited the guided-missile frigate Sanya of the Chinese taskforce.

Representatives of the Chinese taskforce also visited the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, and a Ghanaian coast guard ship GNS CHEMLE, exchanged ideas on joint training and coordination, and held a friendly basketball match with the Ghanaian side.

In addition, the Chinese taskforce held a deck reception on ship Nanning, attended by more than 90 people from the Ghanaian side, at which the Chinese sailors brought performances and traditional Chinese costume show, as well as interactive activities for the guests.

After leaving the port, the Chinese taskforce also conducted joint search and rescue, anti-terrorism and anti-piracy exercises, and formation sailing with the Ghanaian coast guard ship GNS CHEMLE.
