BEIJING, Aug. 8 -- As the water in downtown Zhuozhou, North China's Hebei Province, has basically receded, medical teams were dispatched by the Chinese PLA and the PAP to provide medical service for the people in flood-stricken areas.
The Baoding Military Sub-command sent a team to Gaoguanzhuang Town in Zhuozhou on August 6, which consisted of 22 medical professionals specializing in six fields such as internal medicine, surgery, gastroenterology and respiratory medicine. Besides on-site treatment, they also provided health education and psychological counseling for the affected residents.
The Chinese PAP Hebei Corps set up fixed medical stations at the transfer point and disaster relief camp in Zhuozhou High-tech Development Zone. They provided medical services to 1,714 affected residents and distributed nearly a thousand cartons of medications.
A unit of the 82nd Group Army under the PLA Central Theater Command established a temporary medical aid station at the Zhuozhou Vocational Education Center . They provided health check-ups for the affected residents and facilitated their transfer to hospitals when necessary. They have conducted medical consultations for 318 affected residents and also organized professional disinfection teams to carry out disinfection in residential communities.
