DJIBOUTI, Aug.18 -- The Chinese PLA Djibouti Support Base held the fourth "Horn of East Africa" medical forum on August 18, 2023, which was attended by military medical experts from Djiboutian Republican Guard and foreign military forces stationed in Djibouti.
During the forum, Chinese and foreign medical experts made special reports on the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases in East Africa, laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases, etc., and conducted in-depth exchanges on joint treatment of the wounded and sick, and prevention of infectious diseases. The experts also visited an exhibition on the construction and development of the PLA Djibouti Support Base's hospital, and experienced traditional Chinese medicine such as acupuncture and massage.
In recent years, the base has actively carried out medical exchanges and cooperation. It has successfully held three "Horn of East Africa" international medical forums, and carried out a number of local medical services such as Brightness Action, health checkups and technical training, which has effectively promoted the health cooperation between China and Africa and won recognition and praise from Djibouti and foreign troops stationed in Djibouti.
Faran, a military doctor at the Hospital Military Djibouti of Djiboutian Republican Guard, said that the Chinese PLA Djibouti Support Base has always provided important support to Djibouti in terms of medical assistance. She expressed her sincere gratitude for this and looked forward to establishing communication channels with all parties in the future to jointly fight against malaria, tuberculosis and other diseases and improve the level of local medical care.
