PHNOM PENH, Sep. 15 -- The Chinese PLA Peace Angel medical team arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport, Cambodia, on September 14, to participate in the 13-day "Peace Angel 2023" military medical services exercise with the counterparts of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), and provide free medical services to Cambodian military personnel and civilians.
According to the plan, the joint exercise will be held at the Special Forces Command of the Royal Cambodian Army and focus on the theme of international humanitarian joint medical relief for severe floods and hurricanes, with more than 700 participants from Chinese and Cambodian militaries. Members of the Chinese task force are mainly selected from the PLA Air Force Medical University and the PLA Western Theater's Air Force Hospital.
The exercise includes such training subjects as joint medical service command, joint power projection, joint deployment, and joint on-site rescue, aiming to improve the coordination capabilities of the medical service elements of the two militaries.
During the exercise, the Chinese medical team will also carry out medical service activities in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap simultaneously, and arrange medical experts from 31 different disciplines to provide free medical services and medical supplies for the Cambodian troops, military families and the general public.
The joint exercise is a concrete practice of the two militaries to implement the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Cambodia and China. It aims to exchange the experience of both sides in the field of medical services and help improve the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces' capability of medical rescue and response to various unexpected disasters. It can also help expand military exchanges between the two countries, deepen practical cooperation between the two militaries in medical and health fields, and further consolidate the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia.
It is the first time for the military medical services elements of the two militaries to conduct a joint exercise, and the first time for the Chinese PLA Air Force's medical force to participate in an exercise abroad as well.
