BUKAVU, DRC, Sept. 25 -- The 26th and 27th Chinese peacekeeping engineering companies to the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) completed the 26th rotation and mission handover in Bukavu, South Kivu Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on September 23. Since then, the 27th Chinese peacekeeping engineering company to MONUSCO has begun to perform the peacekeeping mission entrusted by the United Nations.
The two groups of rotational peacekeepers handed over vehicles and machinery, weapons and equipment, communication devices, materials and medical supplies, and exchanged on experience and things to note in the mission.
The 27th Chinese peacekeeping engineering company to the MONUSCO is mainly responsible for engineering support, road repairs, bridge construction, airport construction, and other tasks in the mission area, as well as providing assistance to local people and other peacekeeping forces of the MONUSCO.
According to the plan, 108 peacekeepers from the second echelon of the 26th Chinese peacekeeping engineering company to the MONUSCO will depart from Goma International Airport to return home later this month.
