China's Bayi Aerobatic Team arrives at UAE for Dubai airshow

URUMCHI, Nov. 9 -- Seven J-10 performance aircraft attached to the Bayi Aerobatic Team of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force arrived at Al Maktoum International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at about 14: 00 local time on November 8, to participate in the upcoming 18th Dubai Airshow scheduled from November 13 to 17, 2023.

They departed from a western airport in China on Wednesday and flew more than 7,000 kilometers, completing the overseas flight for the first time without accompanying guidance and transport aircraft's support.

The team plans to conduct four aerial performances at the 18th Dubai Airshow, where international aerobatic teams from Russia, Italy, UAE, India and others will also give dazzling stunts.

This airshow marks the team's second appearance in the UAE following its debut in November 2017, and also the team's first visit to the Middle East after being equipped with the J-10C aircraft.

For more than 60 years since its inception, the Bayi Aerobatic Team has flown various types of aerobatic aircraft successively, including J-5, J-6, JJ-5, J-7EB, J-7GB, J-10 and J-10C. It had staged more than 700 aerial displays for more than 700 delegations from over 170 countries and regions, and undertaken flight demonstration missions abroad on eight occasions.
