ZHANJIANG, Nov. 23 -- The Aman Youyi-2023 joint exercise launched live drills on November 22 in a training ground on land and a certain sea area respectively.

The land drill, focusing on counter-terrorism, began at around 10 am on the day. Participating troops from China, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam suppressed the mock terrorists stationed in the simulated city blocks and successfully rescued the mock hostages by air-ground coordination, three-dimensional envelopment and other means.

At the same time, the sea drill focusing on counter piracy was also underway. The Chinese guided-missile destroyer Nanning, guided-missile frigate Bayannur, comprehensive supply ship Weishanhu and guided-missile frigate Suqian, together with the Royal Malaysian Navy frigate KD Selangor and Vietnamese Navy frigate 016-Quang Trung, sailed in formation towards the targeted waters. During the drill, all ships flexibly adjusted their positions in tacit cooperation, and cooperated to subdue the "pirates" and rescue a "hijacked cargo ship".

Through the live drills, all parties explored and optimized the processes and mechanisms of joint anti-terrorism and military operations on maritime security, further deepened mutual military trust and practical cooperation, and demonstrated their confidence and determination to jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.
